Introducing my newest family member, Piper Loroux. My niece
Melissa surprised me with her/him (we are not sure yet) for my
birthday last month. She is a blue Pacific (Celestial) Parrotlet.
She is extremely adorable, and very comical, however, we wear
leather gloves when we handle her as though we owned a hawk
(she's a biter!) We decided to go with a gender neutral name
since we don't truly know her sex. She was 6 months old when
we adopted her and already she feels like she owns the place.
My other animals seem to be adapting well although not thrilled
when we bring her out of her cage. I think they heard us scream
ouch too many times to feel totally comfortable with her on the
loose. Along with her arrival were many books about how to
raise a good parrotlet...wish us luck!
